To obtain superheated steam having significantly higher thermal and physical characteristics, superheaters are used in the designs of steam boilers. The use of such devices is especially effective at superheated steam temperatures up to 250 ...3000C, because otherwise the durability of these devices is sharply reduced.

Superheater design (The unit includes):

• A system of 3-4 vertically placed pipes that are looped together in such a way that they form a wide ribbon.
• A sealed enclosure where these pipes are placed, and in which the energy carrier – gas - is continuously moving.
• A two-level dressing circuit, which is a horizontal pipe connection of the extreme (from each end of the superheater) vertical pipes.
• Spacers that fix horizontal pipes in a strictly defined plane.
• The necessary shut-off and control valves.

In fact, superheaters are convective or radiation-type heat exchangers in which the process of heat exchange between the gas and the surface of pipelines takes place. Radiation-type superheaters are installed in the upper part of the furnace device, or on its vertical walls. For direct-flow superheaters, the energy characteristics of steam increase as it approaches the exit from the node. Similar devices are used on steam boilers of relatively low power. Superheaters with counterflow are more progressive: they ensure the uniformity of the steam temperature along the entire length of the coil, which increases the efficiency of the system as a whole.

• Efficient use of the heat of outgoing flue gases.
• The ability to transfer superheated steam over extended distances.
